What gear? How do we cook? What to wear?! Want to join one of our fun camping trips, but new to the outdoors? Camping newbies, this is for you!
Don't worry, you're not alone! Great Outdoors LA invites you to join us for an afternoon in Echo Park where you’ll we’ll show you what you need to know to join one of our camping trips, and get you out under the stars.
There will be a group of experienced trip leaders sharing their experiences. We’ll have tents for you to practice setting up and taking down, and various equipment that you can practice with, and you’ll get a checklist of must-have’s to bring on a camping trip.
After we’re done, it’s time for the Big Gay Picnic! Bring a lunch or food to share, a picnic blanket/mat to sit on the lawn, and enjoy the day with friends, old and new.
The audience for this is meant to be those who are inexperienced with overnight camping, but all are welcome. Our purpose is to show the basics so you can get out there enjoying the Great Outdoors.
LOCATION & SCHEDULE: Beacon (Historic Boathouse at Echo Park Lake): 751 Echo Park Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90026. Allow time to find street parking, or take Metro/Lyft. Arrive early to enjoy the lake & coffee/breakfast at Beacon. We'll meet here 10 a.m. at the park, and plan on 12:30 p.m. for our picnic.
