Outings Planning Meeting

October 3, 2010,
9:30am-11:30am

Howdy Folks!

It’s that time of year again when the Great Outdoors hosts a meeting to plan the next 12 months worth of outings. Whether you want to lead a trip, co-lead a trip, offer ideas for trips, or just come and mingle with other Great Outdoors members and volunteers, you are welcome at this meeting.

I’ll be providing coffee, juice, fruit and pastries to snack on while we bounce around ideas and make plans. This meeting is to discuss car-camping, backpacking, adventure-cycling, car tours, desert-mountain-beach camps, snow-camps, paddling trips, adventure trips, relaxing trips and any other outing that is ‘overnight’. (Any ideas or plans for day-hikes or other day-activities should be directed to Jeff Rothenbach, our day-activities coordinator.)

Bring a camp chair ‘cause we’ll be having this meeting in the great outdoors (a backyard) of a home in Koreatown. Rain will not cancel this meeting; any inclement weather will bring the meeting indoors. (Don’t forget to bring a calendar and a pen! No pets, please.)

Can’t wait to see you all! Woohoo!

P.S. Not sure if you can lead a trip on your own? Don’t know the details on how to get started? Have questions about national reservations systems? Come to this meeting and I will try to provide enough procedural information to get you started; and/or hook you up with a co-leader; and/or plan to mentor you through the process. In addition to this personal help, Great Outdoors highly recommends signing-up for our leadership training course, The Outdoors Experience. It is a thorough presentation of outdoor skills, equipment, management, first aid, procedures and leadership for our organization. (And it’s done while CAMPING!) Inquire at the meeting.
